Dorothy Dunnett
Dorothy Dunnett wurde 1923 in Dunfermline, Schottland geboren. Ihre künstlerische Karriere begann sie als Malerin. Bis 1976 erschien der sechsbändige Romanzyklus Lymond Chronicles. Zur Erholung von den aufwendigen Recherchen – verbunden mit zahlreichen Reisen an die Handlungsorte in ganz Europa – schrieb sie Thriller. 1987 begann sie die Frührenaissance-Reihe Das Haus Niccolò, die sie mit dem achten Band Gemini 2000 abschloß. Dorothy Dunnett, die sich auch im öffentlichen Leben engagierte, starb 2001 in Edinburgh.
